Willow

Here is an image that was a bit of a surprise.  The sketch was done with the idea that Willow would be a mermaid underwater, but as the painting process began I felt that the aquatic feeling that I was trying to convey wasn't interesting enough so I decided to place her in a forest backdrop.   The contrasting environmental elements of her looking aquatic yet existing within rustling leaves created a serene feeling and setting that I wasn't expecting but I was still pleasantly surprised by.
